The Tourist Development Tax (also referred to as tourist tax, bed tax or resort tax) is a 6% charge on the revenue from rentals of six months or less. This tax is in addition to the state sales tax (7% in Sarasota County). The state sales tax is sent to the Florida Department of Revenue. The local Tourist Development Tax is sent to the Sarasota County Tax Collector.

I had a wonderful experience visiting the Sarasota County Tax Collector office. The staff was friendly and efficient, making my visit quick and easy. I was able to complete my transaction in no time, and the staff was happy to answer any questions I had. The office was clean and well-maintained, which added to the positive atmosphere. One of the staff members, Barbara, was particularly helpful and went above and beyond to ensure I had everything I needed. Overall, I was very pleased with the service I received and would highly recommend this office to anyone looking to get their driver's license or register their vehicle.
