We visited Ruskin House of Shepherds, an AKC registered, purebred German Shepherd breeder located near Tampa, FL. The breeder, Tina, is passionate about her dogs and wants to ensure they go to responsible homes. Upon arrival, we noticed the facility was clean and well-maintained, with many beautiful German Shepherds roaming around. Tina took the time to educate us on the breed, its history, and the importance of proper care and training. We appreciated her willingness to answer our questions and provide guidance throughout the process.During our visit, we met several of the adult dogs, including King, the father of our puppy. We were impressed by their calm and friendly demeanor. Tina also showed us the whelping pens, where the puppies are born and raised, and explained the importance of socialization and early training. We were pleased to see that the puppies were well- cared for and had plenty of space to play and exercise.Tina is a knowledgeable and caring breeder who prioritizes the health and well-being of her dogs. She conducts extensive health checks and provides a clean health certificate to ensure the puppies are healthy and free of genetic disorders. We appreciated her transparency and willingness to provide us with all the necessary information about our puppy's lineage, temperament, and health.However, we did notice that Tina can come across as blunt or even abrasive at times, which may be off-putting to some people. She is, however, genuinely concerned about finding the right homes for her dogs, and her passion for the breed is evident. We believe that her dedication to the breed and her dogs is a positive trait, but it may not be suitable for everyone.We picked up our puppy, Odin, when he was 8 weeks old, and he has been an absolute joy. He is intelligent, friendly, and loves to play. We have been impressed by his ease of training and his ability to adapt to new situations. Tina has been a great resource for us, providing guidance and advice whenever we need it.Overall, we are extremely satisfied with our experience at Ruskin House of Shepherds and would highly recommend Tina to anyone looking for a German Shepherd. Her passion for the breed, dedication to the health and well-being of her dogs, and commitment to finding responsible homes for them make her a standout breeder in our opinion.We were a bit surprised by some of the negative reviews, which claimed that Tina was unfriendly or unresponsive. However, our experience was the opposite, and we found her to be very welcoming and helpful throughout the process.We would recommend Ruskin House of Shepherds to anyone looking for a German Shepherd, but we would caution potential buyers to be aware of Tina's direct and sometimes blunt communication style. With an open mind and a willingness to learn, we believe that Tina can provide a wonderful experience for anyone looking for a high-quality German Shepherd.
