I was disappointed with the experience at Hernando County School District. While the staff seemed friendly and welcoming, there were some serious concerns that I have. The district's handling of a sexual harassment incident was completely unacceptable. A student was allowed to bully and harass a girl, and the staff's response was to tell her to "not let it bother her" and not to talk about it. This is not only a failure to protect students, but it's also a clear indication that the district is not taking allegations of misconduct seriously. The physical accessibility of the building is a highlight, with a wheelchair-accessible parking lot and entrance. However, the overall quality of the experience was marred by the lack of attention to student safety and well-being. The district's policies on masks and online learning also seem to prioritize convenience over the health and safety of students and staff. The district's focus on fitting in and protecting the rights of one student over the well-being of another is a concerning trend. It's clear that the district is more interested in protecting itself than in protecting its students. The working hours were standard, with the office being open from 8am to 4pm, Monday through Friday. However, the lack of attention to student safety and well-being during those hours is a major concern.Overall, I would not recommend Hernando County School District to anyone who values the safety and well-being of their children.
