The visit to the American Indian mound in Tampa Bay is a unique experience that takes you through 900 years of Florida history. The guided tour is informative and engaging, with the guide sharing interesting stories about the different periods in the area's history, including the Tocobaga Indians, Spanish explorers, and local pioneers. The tour is also a great opportunity to learn about the indigenous peoples who once lived on the sacred land, as well as the conquistadores and settlers of the area. The property is well-maintained, with beautiful views of Boca Ciega Bay and a variety of plants and peacocks to observe.
However, some visitors have mentioned that the tour is a bit short, lasting only an hour and a half. Additionally, the summer 2024 hurricanes caused some damage to the pier, which is currently closed.
The tour is a great way to spend an afternoon, especially during peacock mating season in March when you can see them in their full glory. The guide is knowledgeable and enthusiastic, making the tour an enjoyable and educational experience. The only drawback is that it may not be suitable for young children, but it's perfect for middle school age and older.
