Now, a critically acclaimed North American tour brings this Rodgers and Hammerstein classic to audiences across the country, inviting longtime fans and a new generation to experience its magic live.

Directed by three-time Tony Award winner Jack O’Brien (Hairspray), this enchanting production follows Maria, a spirited young woman whose life takes an unexpected turn when she becomes governess to the von Trapp children. As music fills their home, Maria and the family discover the strength of love, courage, and staying true to what matters most.

The show features cherished songs including “Do-Re-Mi,” “Sixteen Going on Seventeen,” and “Edelweiss,” bringing the warmth, romance, and emotional depth of this classic story to the stage. At its heart, The Sound of Music celebrates the power of music to bring people together and inspire hope through challenging times.

With music by Richard Rodgers, lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, and a book by Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse, the musical was inspired by Maria Augusta Trapp’s memoir, The Trapp Family Singers.

The beloved stage production also carries the legacy of the Academy Award-winning 1965 film, one of the most celebrated movie musicals of all time.
