The Story of Beauty and the Beast

Belle is an intelligent, independent young woman living in a small French village. Dreaming of a life filled with adventure, she longs for something beyond the familiar routines of her hometown. When her father disappears in the forest, Belle sets out to find him and discovers a mysterious castle hidden among the trees.

There, she encounters the Beast - a frightening figure who was once a handsome prince. Cursed by an enchantress for his arrogance and vanity, he can only break the spell by learning to love another person and earning that person’s love in return.

As Belle and the Beast gradually grow closer, their unexpected friendship offers him a chance at redemption. But the enchantment has a deadline, and the Beast must discover what truly matters before his opportunity disappears forever.

From Animated Classic to Broadway Sensation

When Disney released Beauty and the Beast in 1991, the film became a landmark in animation history. Its success helped revitalize Disney’s animated film division, and it became the first animated feature nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture.
