Get ready for a wild ride full of dark humor, catchy tunes, small-town drama, and a creature with a serious identity crisis! Bat Boy: The Musical brings its off-Broadway cult hit energy to the stage with a story that’s equal parts comedy, horror, and social satire.
Inspired by an outrageous tabloid story, this high-energy musical follows a half-boy, half-bat creature discovered in a cave near Hope Falls, West Virginia. With nowhere else to turn, the local sheriff takes him to the home of veterinarian Dr. Parker, where his wife, Meredith, and teenage daughter, Shelley, help him adjust to life among humans.
For a while, Bat Boy seems to have found his place in the world. But when he tries to fit in with the town’s narrow-minded residents, fear and prejudice quickly take over. As tensions rise, Bat Boy and Shelley fall in love and flee the town - only to have their newfound happiness interrupted by a shocking family secret. Before long, the entire community gathers to uncover the disturbing truth behind Bat Boy’s mysterious origins.
Written by Keythe Farley and Brian Flemming, with music and lyrics by Laurence O’Keefe, this darkly funny musical explores prejudice, belonging, love, and what it really means to be human - with plenty of bat-inspired madness along the way.
